Diesel locomotives are designed for horizontal rail transport especially in mines and enclosed spaces.  They are also intended for use in explosive environment with coal dust and methane in volume up to 1.5 %, and they are certified according to European safety standards and ATEX standards. They can work on slopes of rail lines up to 35‰, with track gauge from 500 to 900 mm, at ambient temperatures from +2 to +40 °C.

Locomotives are weighing from 5 to 15 tons; they are composed of three parts, two cabins and the central part where engine and chassis are located. Cabins are removable for easier transport of locomotives into underground tunnels. Diesel engines with power from 35 to 120 kW are water-cooled. Transmission of torque moment from the engine to the axle gear is through hydrostatic transmission that provides smooth operation. The chassis is of dual-axle type, transmission to the second axle is assured by inter-axle cardan shaft. Locomotive braking is performed by two independent systems on both axles: hydraulic and mechanical.
